Hip hop: The culture

This is a huge knowledge drop for the community where people think with the release of the new “gully boy” movie has introduced the hip hop culture in the country. First of all hip hop was already present in our country way before the movie as it was not famous but it had its own audience before it went commercial. Hip hop or hip-hop, is a culture and art movement that began in the Bronx in New York City during the early 1970s. It has lot of misconception about what it is because it came from because of the influence hip hop artist nowadays present. There are four major elements which this culture began with and total nine elements present but only the four major elements are required to completely understand what it is.
These arts were developed by African- American communities to enable people to make a statement, whether political or emotional and participate in community activities. These practices spread globally around the 1980s as fans could “make it their own” and express themselves in new and creative ways in music, dance and other arts.

DJing and turntablism are the techniques of manipulating sounds and creating music and beats using two or more Phonographs turntables (or other sound sources, such as tapes, CDs or digital audio files) and a  that is plugged into a PA system.

MCing

Rapping (also known as emceeing,[ MCing, spitting (bars), or just rhyming) refers to “spoken or chanted rhyming lyrics with a strong rhythmic accompaniment”. Rapping typically features complex wordplay, rapid delivery, and a range of “street slang”, some of which is unique to the hip hop subculture. While rapping is often done over beats, either done by a DJ, a beatboxer, it can also be done without accompaniment.

Graffiti

Graffiti is the most controversial of hip hop’s elements, as a number of the most notable graffiti pioneers say that they do not consider graffiti to be an element of hip hop.
The relationship between graffiti and hip hop culture arises both from early graffiti artists engaging in other aspects of hip hop culture,Graffiti is understood as a visual expression of rap music, just as breaking is viewed as a physical expression.

Breaking

Breaking, an early form of hip hop dance, often involves dance battles, showing off technical skills, trying to out-do a rival dancer, and displaying tongue-in-cheek bravado.

Breaking, also called B-boying/B-girling or breaking, is a dynamic, rhythmic style of dance which developed as one of the major elements of hip hop culture. Like many aspects of hip hop culture, breaking borrows heavily from many cultures, including 1930s-era street dancing, Brazilian and Asian Martial arts, Russian folk dance, and the dance moves of James Brown, Michael Jackson, and California funk. Breaking took form in the South Bronx in the 1970s alongside the other elements of hip hop. Breaking is typically done with the accompaniment of hip hop music playing on a boom box or PA system. breaking was never called the term “breakdancing” as it is shown on wikipedia.

These four elements tells us what the hip hop culture really is with new diss game started in the rap industry by Emiway and Raftaar people are being misguided for what hip hop really is, the soul purpose of this culture being created was to decrease violence and drug abuse in the community. In hip hop everyone has the freedom to express what they want to express but people has started to take this freedom in a wrong way and has created a lot of misconception among the youth about hip hop culture. With the increase in technology hip hop has spread across the globe though this a new generation this is my message to all the hip hop artist which lead the scene, hip hop doesnt need winners it need ambasssadors, leaders to guide the community and be examples for the new generation of this culture really is and educate them about it all means which is RESPECT!

LEARN TO RESPECT!
